The current federal notice extends Ukraine’s Temporary Protected Status designation through October 19, 2026. Existing beneficiaries were instructed to re-register during the January 17–March 18, 2025 re-registration period.
What Ukrainian TPS beneficiaries should review now
- Your Form I-821 receipt and approval notices.
- The category and expiration date printed on your Employment Authorization Document.
- Any pending Form I-765 receipt notice that may affect an automatic EAD extension.
- Your current address in the USCIS system and copies of every filing.
- Whether you have another immigration status, pending application, or possible longer-term option.
Employment authorization requires document-specific review
The 2025 Federal Register notice automatically extended certain Ukraine TPS EADs through April 19, 2026. It also explains that some timely filed EAD renewals may qualify for an automatic extension of up to 540 days, but never beyond October 19, 2026 under that notice. Eligibility depends on the EAD category, card date, and renewal filing.
Do not assume a future extension
TPS decisions can change. Until DHS publishes a new official notice, individuals should plan around the currently published October 19, 2026 end date and obtain individualized advice about pending cases, travel, employment documents, and other possible immigration pathways.
